ocean blues
tangerine Sun rise above
cerulean sky
in between cyan and turquoise
waves, deceptively calm
sweeping across eggshell sands
i stand rooted to the rhythms
Mother Earth has offered to me;
a tiny speck of cosmic dust.
the ocean drags the Earth
from under my feet, returning it
to the sea and tosses up coral,
calico scallop and tiny conch
shells like some offering to me.
a silent sacrifice to make amends
for removing the ground that
once held me steady.
gentle winds floating through
the curls of my hair
remind me of your fingers that
once ran freely there
kissed by the heat
on a Sunday morning.
